Privacy Policy

Outpost is built around a single promise: your network data stays on your device. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what that means.
The short version
- Outpost does not sell or share your data, has no account system, and includes no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- Network scanning is entirely on-device. Discovering devices, identifying them, scoring risk, storing history, and generating alerts never use the internet, and your device list never leaves your iPhone.
- Some features do reach the internet, and each one is opt-in — a scam or message check, a link/sender reputation check, an email breach lookup, a password check, vulnerability (CVE) lookups, the speed test, internet-health checks, the whole-home filtering check, the internet-exposure check, Guardian sharing, and encrypted-DNS Protection. None run unless you turn them on or tap the button that starts them.
- One of them can run in the background — if you switch on "Check automatically" for internet health, Outpost takes one timing check alongside each background scan. It is off by default and is the only thing Outpost does over the internet unattended.
What stays on your device
To do its job, Outpost works with the following locally on your device only, and none of it is sent off your device:
- Devices on your Wi-Fi — IP addresses, hostnames, advertised services, and open ports of devices on the network you're connected to, gathered by scanning your own local network.
- Names and labels you add — nicknames, notes, and alert preferences.
- Scan history and alerts — a local record of past scans and events.
There is no Outpost account and no cloud copy of your network.
Features that use the internet (all opt-in)
When you use a feature that needs the internet, only what's required for that check is sent to the relevant provider — never your device list, scan history, or alerts. The app shows the same detail per feature in Settings → What leaves this iPhone, including exactly what is sent and who receives it. Password checks use a privacy-preserving method that never transmits your actual password.
Deleting your data
Because everything lives on your device, deleting the app removes your Outpost data with it. You can also clear scan history and labels from within the app. There's no account for us to delete and no server-side copy to request.
Children
Outpost is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
